Time for a Resolution (Reality) Check

I didn’t select a theme word for 2021; not after the debacle my theme word ‘unhurried’ had screeching 2020 to a grinding halt (sorry about that by the way.)

But the Covid-Quarentine 15 (okay more like 20 pounds, but in my defense, I did have a baby) needed some attention. I also wanted to read more. With a handful of other goals, I mentioned my resolutions to John who decided to make it an office goal to read more books and hit regular weight-loss monthly goals. Loser buys Thai Food.

We marked our goal weights at the end of each month on the Calendar and cheered in the new year.

Ambitiously I cut out all sugar and alcohol for all of January (and if you can remember the lifetime ago that was January, it was a heck of a time to be wine-free.) I lost a pound and a half…

John sipped margaritas in Mexico and his weight stayed the same.

In February I decided if dessert and my evening cap were all worth a whopping 1.5 pounds… I’ll have my cake and drink it too. Literally. So this month I focused more on eating regular meals, more vegetables and walking. My end of the month check in has me half a pound back up. But I did read a book.

Meanwhile John sipped Mai Tais in Hawaii and he is down 4 pounds...

In my frustration, I might have to switch our focus to gaining pages instead of losing pounds; so for the month of March I’m instituting the new rule that we can only drink wine… while reading a book.

Watch out Jane Austen and Ray Bradbury- I have a Chardonnay on ice and I plan to use it.

I’m really looking forward to finally have some traction on my resolutions- and maybe something I can beat John at.

Join me in incentivizing your resolutions with 2018 Chardonnay.

Fill your glass with soft amber accented with glistening diamonds. Drink in the bouquet of jasmine florals entangled with subtle Madagascar vanilla and teasing wisps of citrus rind. Envelope your palate with a brilliantly oaked introduction and caressing velvet butter interrupted with crisp pineapple blooming layers in this full-bodied twist on a classic Burgundian profile.
