A Word From John

From Kate to friends and club members to sommeliers and winemakers; everyone who has tried this can’t resist a second and even third glass.

As Kate has mentioned, I was apprehensive of Rosé. Mostly because US Rosés are typically made from the ‘pour off’ from the production of another red wine, like Pinot Noir. (The pour-off is done to concentrate and intensify the flavors of red wine after maceration.) Many people didn’t even consider them to be ‘real wine’ when made in this way.

I remember my first thought on that first sip of French Provence Rosé- how fresh and ‘minerally’ it was. That the color was a faint hue, almost like a very, very light Chardonnay with the slightest hint at pink. It was much different than in the United States.

After a serendipitous meeting with Kris Curran, I knew we could be on the right track for having the Provence style Rosé I had in France. Kris is a rockstar winemaker specializing in Rosé, Grenache Blanc and Pinot Noir. She was the original winemaker of Sea Smoke building that renowned winery into a cult Pinot brand.

The reactions we have had over and over in tastings are like nothing I’ve ever seen before. One fascinating observation I keep seeing that is not something I’ve seen with our other wines to this extent is this wine just seems to be extremely powerful in its nudging to pour another glass.

A main reason for this is that our Rosé is made from “scratch.” It was made to be a Rosé from the beginning, it was not done from the pour off of another red wine and chemically manipulated.

Get it now. This is going to go fast. You are going to love it. This will be our biggest wine ever.
