Proudly Announcing Succulent Green Richness

My husband loves big red wines… you know the kind with so many tannins you can practically chew it. And three seasons out of the year he’s perfectly content to keep his glass full with inky blackness.

But in the heat of summer, something about such a big red just feels bogged down and heavy.

So each year, he passes the scorching summer weeks with a refreshing (albeit one-dimensional) Pinot Grigio.

… and then we tried a bottle of Double Bond’s 2nd new wine. It was a wine neither of my husband or I had tried before and after tasting it, I’m not sure how we went so long without it.

Grenache Blanc.

It was similar to Shawn’s usual summer go-to but in multiple dimensions, like a familiar, tediously travelled, greeting that matured unexpectedly into the best full-bodied conversation tinged with green richness.

All I could think of as I ventured through my first glass of this new wine was that each sip was like taking a slicing bite out of a green apple with all the layers of nuanced flavors but none of the sweetness. Boy, was it succulent!

The experience was cooling from the inside out.

Although the Rosé is my heart-song and Shawn enjoys it with me just fine, something about the Grenache Blanc is refreshingly masculine in its depth and it has been the clear winner for the primarily red drinkers who have tasted it.

"This is the best white wine I've ever had."

-Shawn Morris
